Tiny Shoulders, Rethinking Barbie
2018 • Hulu
Dir. Andrea Nevins
In this revealing documentary, the world’s most popular plastic doll is reexamined through the lens of culture, history, and fashion.
There’s some lovely filmmaking—an opening sequence in which a handmade Barbie moves from stage to stage, from hair-weaving to lip-painting, is gorgeous.
